Sunday, July 21, 2013, amidst the hot, humid day, parishioners gathered for an Old Fashion Picnic. The parish staff and Stewardship committee invited all to an afternoon of Cake Walks, Go Fish booth, Bean bag and Tic-Tack-Toe Toss, Spin the Wheel, Sack Race, a picnic basket contest and the hit of the afternoon; the Dunking Booth.
The picnic basket contest was won by Juana Garcia with her hot chill pepper decor.
Everyone who attended had the opportunity to participate in all of the free activities and a chance to win a prize. The highlight of the afternoon was the opportunity to dunk Monsignor Leonard Pivonka. Nora Benavides takes honors in hitting the target and dunking Monsignor into the water. Nora then approached the booth to push the target dunking Edna Herring. Both Edna and Monsignor were such good sports.
Parishioners line up to dunk Monsignor Pivonka!
Nora Benavides take a pitch at the target.
And Monsignor goes down, down, down. Good shot Nora!!!!! Shawn Waters was beyond excitement shouting "Touchdown!"
A raffle was coordinating by Eloisa and Robert Sepulveda to benefit the Teen ACTS Retreat being held in August. The drawing was held and the winner of a beautiful religious basket was Lauren Edelen. Congrats Lauren.
What's a picnic without a sack race? Ask Abbe Waters and Roxanne Luna who raced their heart out to the ground.
We mustn't forget the all time Cake Walk. Yumm, Cake!
We had fun and hope that next year you will make every attempt to join in on the fun that the parish staff and Stewardship committee work so diligently to plan for each one of us to come together as a community of Faith. God Bless!
